Business has always helped shape Diggers Rest
Diggers Rest developed as an important stopping place on the road to the Victorian goldfields. Travellers, carriers, livestock and supplies moved through the district, creating demand for accommodation, food, stores and practical services.
Later generations supported general stores, postal services, agricultural activity, transport, trades and small enterprise. Today, established operators remain part of that story while new residential, commercial and employment areas point towards another period of change.
